NEW PROGRAM

Catch the Wave

Catch the Wave explores high school sound wave theory visually and kinesthetically for your elementary/middle school students.

HOW?

...with water balloons,
slinkies,
space phones
and whoopee cushions of course!

Lots of interaction and fun with an average of 20 volunteers during the program. (Everyone gets into the act kinesthetically one way or another!)

Concepts covered in all programs: (vocabulary adjusted to grade level)

  • Vibration
  • Air molecules
  • Amplitude
  • Frequency
  • Pitch
  • Echo, echo location
  • How sound travels through different mediums
  • After learning about sound, we use a guitar, slide whistle, drums, etc.to explore how instruments make music and why they are designed the way they are.

Adaptable for preschoolers through adults.
Can be done as 2 assemblies, one upper elem, one lower elem.
More interactive in smaller groups as a full day of up to 4 assemblies
Teachers packet includes program outline/followup classroom activities.

Science of Sound Links

"How can kids NOT get excited about science when you show up in those rainbow coveralls!??! Your presentation was excellent: beautifully conceived, right on with the examples for the concepts being taught, and nicely delivered to the kids. You had them "vibrating" with excitement about sound!
