Bubble Monster!!

Marcey Walsh©2008

Marcey is wowing kids and adults alike this summer with a simple tool anyone can make in 5 minutes…

You can experiment with almost anything with an opening to blow through a thin film to create lots of different kinds of bubbles. But, the Bubble Monster is the amazing way to create TOWERS of foamy bubbles to use for fun experiments or just 'cause they are cool!

Make your own- adult supervision needed
Needed:

  • One small plastic soda bottle, remove the screw top
  • Scissors or exacto knife
  • Square of cheese cloth to cover bottom of bottle with inch of overlap
  • One rubber band

1. Carefully cut the bottom off of a small plastic soda bottle. (2 liters are too big) Careful, the edge may be sharp!
2. Turn the bottle upside down and smooth cheesecloth over the open end
3. Slide rubber band over cheesecloth and bottle to hold the cloth on
4. Dip the covered end of the bottle in bubble solution and blow through the bottle opening gently and watch the bubble foam appear from the bottom!
5. Move the Bubble Monster higher and higher to build the bubble column.
6. HAVE FUN!

NOTE: If several kids are using the Bubble Monster, have them hold the top of the bottle in their fist and blow through their hand to avoid sharing "mouth germs"

Bubble Stuff: Solution you make at home is much stronger than purchased.
---12 Cups of water
---1 cup Dish Soap (Brand name hand dish washing soap)
---3 tablespoons of glycerin (in lotion aisle of drug stores) -not essential, but . bubbles last longer

Keep the solution in a sealed container and it will last a LONG time!
